Spring Becomes Summer – 2 Successful Pilot Programs Launched

ZeroLandfill successfully launched two Ohio based pilot programs in 2009 that yielded nearly 9 tons of expired specification samples from local architects and interior designers in Akron and Toledo. 100% of the materials
were connected to arts educators and local artists in each market. Although 18,000 pounds of carpet tiles, stone
samples, and wallcovering books does not sound like a lot, it is remarkable that this amount of product was collected and redustributed in only 8 working days between the two markets. Outstanding work! A special thanks to our “queen bees” who took the lead and ensured success of these two efforts – Lisa Bostwick in Akron and Alison Dillion in Toledo.

The ZeroLandfill project team now turns its attention to its roots, launching the 4th annual Cleveland project on June 19th. The program is approaching 100 tons of specification materials diverted from the waste stream and returned to the community as viable economic and creative assets.
